One of community members has entered the Play Everywhere Challenge by KaBoom who is awarding $1 million for kid-friendly innovations.

The Play Everywhere Challenge is a national competition that will award $1 million in prizes for the best replicable, scalable innovations in city redevelopment and design that help make play easy, available and fun for kids and families. Finalists will receive funds and assistance to further hone their ideas, and in September, $1 million in prize money will be awarded to 50 winners from all across the United States.

The Imagine Forest designed by a team of Belmont neighborhood community members. Out of 1,000+ applications, The Imagine Forest is one of the 200 finalists!

Remember that feeling you had as a kid when you wandered into the woods? There were so many things to discover, secrets hidden under every leaf and rock, and adventures awaited your every turn!

The Imagine Forest is about harnessing that feeling of magic and discovery in a beautiful, but underutilized natural setting, nestled within an urban environment. The Imagine Forest will take the majestic wonders of nature, and enhance it in special way as a play space for kids.

To make this happen, the project team (county/city staff, neighborhood rep, landscape architect) will transform a cove along the SugarCreek Greenway in the Belmont neighborhood by making paths, play installations such as swings, rope bridges, mazes, and sitting areas.
